WHAT CLASSES DOES THE MARKETS WANNIASSA OFFER?

 

We are focussed on providing classes in vast array of crafts. Included, but not limited to the following:

 

 

 

If you have a particular craft you are interested in learning let us know, we will do our best to source a teacher and hold a class in that subject.

 

HOW MUCH DO THE CLASSES AT THE MARKETS WANNIASSA COST?

Costs per class vary, ranging between $20 – and $60 per class.

 

HOW LONG IS A CLASS SESSION?

Most classes are for a period of 2 hours and are stand alone classes, so at the end of each session you will have learned a new skill and have made a complete item. Some classes will be held over a number of weeks, full course cost payable at time of booking.

 

WHAT DO MY CLASS FEES COVER?

In most classes your fees will cover all the materials you need to learn a specific skill or make a specific item. For example you will be provided with a crochet hook and yarn, take home pattern, thread and use of needles to make an item in an amigurumi class.

 

WHAT DO I NEED TO BRING TO CLASS?

In most cases you will not need to bring anything.  If you are required to bring equipment you will be advised of this at time of booking your spot. For sewing classes students may be required to bring their own sewing machine or overlocker.

 

HOW DO I BOOK A SPOT IN A CLASS?

Until our Online booking system is implemented you can book your place by coming into The Markets Wanniassa, emailing us at fiona@themarketswanniassa.com with details of the class you wish to book, or telephoning us on 62318065 or 0407104935 during our trading hours (Monday Closed, Tues-Fri 10am to 6pm and Sat-Sun 10am to 3pm).  Please be aware that your spot is not confirmed without full payment.

 

HOW DO I PAY MY CLASS FEES?

Payments in person or via Credit Card over the phone are available at present. As we expand we will have an online booking system with payment options included.

 

WHAT TIME ARE CLASSES?

Classes will be held at various times during the week, accommodating for student preferences – both daytime classes as well as evening and weekend timeslots.

 

WHERE WILL CLASSES BE HELD?

At The Markets Wanniassa, Shop 15 12 Sangster Place Wanniassa, across from Coles inside the arcade.  The Wanniassa Shops close to Red Rooster, NOT Erindale Centre.

 

WHO WILL BE TEACHING THE CLASSES?

A range of talented people will be the instructors for each class. Experts in their field, often designers and creators that contribute to our handmade products in store. We source local artists to share their skills with interested students.

 

HOW MANY STUDENTS WILL BE IN EACH CLASS?

We aim to keep our class sizes to a level which provides each student with the opportunity to have the attention they need.  Depending on the class subject and skill level of students, classes will be limited to 6 students.

 

DO THE INSTRUCTORS HOLD A WWVP CARD? 

There will be a staff member of The Markets Wanniassa with a valid WWVP Card present during all classes. We aim to have all of our teachers and instructors to have their WWVP card by January 2018, with majority already holding their WWVP card, and some teachers in the process of having theirs approved.

 

ARE CHILDREN ABLE TO PARTICIPATE IN CLASSES?

Yes. Some classes will be more suitable for children to participate in than others.  Children aged 8years and under will require an accompanying adult, unless specified. We recognise children of the same age may possess very different abilities therefore are open to negotiating.

 

CAN I BRING MY SMALL CHILD/REN TO CLASS WITH ME?

In order to get the maximum out of the class, bringing small children is not permitted – unless during a designated baby friendly class. 

 

WILL I BE REFUNDED IF I DO NOT ATTEND THE CLASS I BOOKED?

Refunds are not made for change of mind. Refund requests are assessed individually, however due to the costs involved for the teachers/instructors they are subject to a $10 administration fee. Bookings are not transferrable to another class.

 

WHAT HAPPENS IF THE MINIMUM STUDENT NUMBERS ARE NOT MET FOR EACH CLASS?

If there are insufficient student booking numbers for a class it may be cancelled or rebooked at a later date.  The decision to proceed with a class is purely at the teacher’s discretion.  Full refunds will be offered if class is cancelled by the teacher.

 

IS MY CLASS BOOKING TRANSFERRABLE TO ANOTHER PERSON IF I CANNOT ATTEND?

Yes – as long as you have provided the information to The Markets Wanniassa in writing prior to the class commencement time.

 

ARE THERE TEA AND COFFEE FACILITIES AVAILABLE?

There is a Coffee Guru in the centre, The Markets Wanniassa has negotiated for all students attending classes to receive a student discount on tea and coffee. The Markets Wanniassa will provide tea and coffee facilities only during classes when Coffee Guru is not trading. The cost of these facilities is a gold coin, which will be donated to local charities.
